More is More

Rachel Zoe is my spirit animal.
I die for her & her love of statement dressing, & she is the queen of maximalism.
[if you watched every episode of The Rachel Zoe Project & share my obsession we need to be friends]

I've never been a minimalist. I will probably be buried in my stacks of bracelets with five pounds worth of necklaces & rinds on that will have been carefully planned and styled.

I'm all about more is more, because less is just boring.

{seriously, the more sequins/fur/jewelry/lipstick the better}

On any given day this may be seen as a little much. Rachel, one of my roommates/Barbie dolls, literally runs the other way when I try to bring any of the above-mentioned things within ten feet of her body - but I can't get enough.

Despite my love of all things sequin, I have never been one for New Year's Eve. It's one of those nights where the expectation is so high that nothing that actually happens can compare.

For me, the only good part about NYE is the clothes. It's the one night everyone decides that what I love year-round is actually acceptable to wear, so I tend to go all-out no matter the plan.

If you're not the kind of person who feels obligated to buy every sequin romper you lay eyes on [my wallet envies you], or if you're curling up on the couch with champagne instead of freezing yourself to death waiting in line to get into a bar (I won't judge, this may be my plan - thanks Nashville for the $50 cover to get in anywhere) this is the perfect look!

[sequins + grandpa sweater = the happiest couple]

What are your NYE plans? If you've done New Year's in Nashville, let me know! I've failed at planning anything.
XOXO, Natalie

Half & Half

Half-done hair is not my thing. I'm a firm believer in the thought that if your hair is done you look & feel done, even if you're dressed like a hobo.

[Exhibit A]

But after all the traveling I've done in the past week combined with my thyroid disease, I have the energy level of anyone post-Thanksgiving meal.

I have been searching for an easy way to do my hair that doesn't require my full
curl, hairspray, tease, hairspray, repeat until hair looks like Dolly Parton did it
routine but still looks pulled together.

Enter the Mulan bun.

Paired with an oversized flannel & leather leggings it makes for the perfect relaxed look for errands, traveling & brunch - with the same volume I can't leave the house without. Not to mention it calls for less heat on your hair during the holidays.

{A necessary evil with all the parties & family functions this season}

Also, if you're in search of the perfect cozy flannel that doesn't look like you stole borrowed it off your 6'5" boyfriend, try Milk & Honey Boutique. It's my new go-to.

If you've tried this look before, let me know. I would love to hear any tips & tricks!

XOXO, Natalie

Do Bloggers Get Sick Days?

I don't know if it's the fact that Nashville hasn't seen the sun in weeks, if I'm still not 100% from a nasty cold or the fact that I've just been running around nonstop, but I've gotten lazy.

[I mean really lazy, if you couldn't tell by my being MIA on the blog for two weeks awhile]

Being sick hasn't helped. The last thing I wanted to do last week is wear real clothes but I have this complex about looking at least somewhat pulled together in public, even when I feel (and look) like I'm dying.

After Rachel about dragged me out of the car at Walgreens Tuesday night to buy Kleenex & cough syrup because I was in a grey sweatshirt, grey sweatpants & slippers (and refused to go in dressed like that) I knew there had to be a better alternative.

Cue these amazing sweatpants.

As much as I love wearing Bo's sweatpants, they're made for a 6'5" boy & have a huge hole in the knee which in turn makes me look like I live in a cardboard box. These are a lot little more presentable I can get away with wearing them everywhere.

I will be wearing these on the plane ride home on the 23rd [#internlife] & probably every day while I'm at home because they're that comfortable!

Paired with a baggy sweater, tshirt & booties these are the best for traveling, Sunday errands & sick days when you have to drag yourself out of bed for medicine when all you want to do is curl up & binge watch Gossip Girl for the millionth hundredth time.

I've pulled some similar pants for y'all below, because I couldn't track these down online but they're all just as cute & you'll get the same look with each pair!

What's your favorite show to watch when you're sick?

XOXO, Natalie
